Approx. 90 meters of the present village centre of Uitikon, at the Urdorferstrasse,
was a roman farm that was built in the 2nd century AD.
It was inhabited approximately for 150 years. The frigidarium was found at an excavation in the year 2003.
The information about the size of the villa rustica are different. One report - NZZ, 28.11.03 - mentions that was found a rectangular building from 7 to 20 meters, which had four bath-rooms in a corner. In a other report - NZZ, 23.12.04 - is the mansion 20 to 14 meters large, the bath is next to that. Latter size is also mentioned the Limmattaler Tagblatt, 01.11.05.
Today the frigidarium is visible in a shelter in the village centre (crossing Zuercherstrasse - Urdorferstrasse).Quick Info:
