About the roman farm below the church in Oberbipp is only known a little.
The discovered walls
are from the 2nd and 3rd century AD. Two were part of to the eastern wing and one
of the northern wing of the building which was oriented to south. A basement was between the walls of the eastern wing.
The rest of this villa rustica is
supposed in the west under the old cemetery. In the late empire was added a
square building to the eastern wing
.
Probably it was a burial place or a mausoleum of the late empire.
Later were built presumably 4 churches. From the first only the graves were discovered. The last one is the present church.
The excavation below the church is conserved, can be visited however with announcement with guided tour.
