On the field Aalbuehl was built in the year AD 50 a roman farm.
The mansion of this villa
rustica was oriented to southwest. It was altered during the years seven times.
From initially 40.7 to 28.5 meters it was extended to 48.8 to 39.2 meters.
The building had initially square rooms in all four corners. The northeast side was linked by an open porticus. At the southwest side were closed living rooms. In the last phase was a porticus on three sides. A bath-wing was on the northwest side. Some rooms had a hypocaust. On the other sides were installed rooms too. On the southern side was built a projection corner. On the west side a projection corner was later altered in an apse room with mosaic floors.
Different other rooms were equipped also with mosaics.
The bath-building was approx. 20 meters northwest of the mansion. From
initially 23.2 to 14 meters it was enlarged in the southeast with 2.4 meters. It
had seven rooms. Three of that had a hypocaust, four a mosaic floor. Later a
connection porticus to the mansion was constructed.
A larger adjoining building was 95 meters northeast of the mansion. It was to 45 to 20 - 25 meters large. Further small buildings were near the bath-building. A further small building was 140 meters southwest of the mansion.
Up to now 140 meters of the enclosure wall were discovered. This piece began at the northwest side of the bath-building.
The estate was used until the early 4th century AD.
Next to the already mentioned subjects following was found:
Mural paintings, hinges of bronze and iron, latches, fragments of a window
grille of iron, fragments of a leaden water cymbal and a tap of bronze. Furthermore 70 coins and pieces of pottery.
The foundation walls of the mansion and the bath-building are preserved, or rather marked. The site is designated also as Schatzbuck.
