On the present
slope Les Maichières - northeast of Develier - was a roman farm. It had a
width of 250 meters and a length of 550 meters.
The mansion was on the top of the slope and orientated to southeast. The heart building was 30.5 to 20 meters large. On the narrow face were two annexes. This heart building had a hall and two porticus. The broader one was on the mountain side, the other one on the valley side. In the hall were later probably living rooms built in.
The bath-building was 90 meters below the main building at a creek. It had at least 6 rooms, one with a hypocaust.
The farm was dug up to between 1841 and 1844. Also the western estate wall was discovered in this case among other things. In the broader porticus were still rests of the mural painting. Also 3 adjoining buildings were found. One had mosaic, marble and alabaster rests.
In the mentioned area is a Rue des Romains indeed. Also a creek is behind this. I could not find visible rests of the farm or the bath-building however.
