On the field Buchs and
Walhausen stood once a roman villa rustica.
The mansion was oriented approximately to west and was on an hill rim. The heart building was a longitudinal tract of 45 to 11.5 meters. The living rooms were in that. A porticus on the valley side was 3.6 meters wide.
Later was built a bath-tract at the northern end. The largest room had a hypocaust.
During the excavations of 1906/07 were found white pedestal paintings in the bath-rooms. These were divided with lines into three fields. From the walls above were found following painting fragments: three-leaved, blue palmettes, four-colored rings, green leaves rows and garlands. In the living rooms were found fragments of white, red, black and light blue primed walls.
Most rooms had mortar grounds. A corridor had a stone paving. Next to the doors were still existing fragments' of coating plates of marble and the doorstep of limestone.
Pieces of pottery were found - due to the excavation technique - only from the 2nd century. Therefore the duration of use of the farm is unknown.
Today no remains of the farm are to be seen. In the northern part of the village are a Buchsweg and a Wolhusen (way). The villa was possibly at this place.
