| Goeblange | Back to the report about Luxembourg |
At Goeblange - in a forest which one is called today Miecher - was built in the 1st century AD a roman villa. It was altered sometimes and used until the 4th century.
The main building was a
so-called porticus villa with corner projections. The front was in south direction. A room
was altered in a kind of guard tower in the last stage. In the formerly basement
arose 3 cisterns.
A further
adjoining building was used as a bath-building.
Presumably also the servants were accommodated her.
The layout is a question of a beautiful example of country houses of the late-empire. These were equipped with an own fortification.
The main building and the bath-house are conserved. Furthermore are other excavations in progress. Interesting are also new dug up wall traces which border on the building.
