The road Treves (Colonia Augusta Treverorum) - Reims (Durocortorum Remorum) passed also the bottom of a valley of Chameleux. This road was certainly redeveloped in AD 44. This is written on a founded milestone.
At
this place was a smaller relay. Its buildings are from the 1st century AD up to the 5th century.
Relays existed in regular distances of approx. 15 km.
Chameleux is a small
hamlet outside of Florenville.
Here still some houses and rests of the road are to be seen. Nearly every house
had a cellar.
Rests of the road are furthermore preserved in the forest of Florenville. Whether also visible, I don't know. The road was used still in the year 1387 through the French king Charles VI.
