Friday, 01.08.2003 - Mont Vully, Fribourg
The oppidum on the Mont Vully was fortified since the end of the second or beginning of the first century BC.
It
was given up presumably in the year 58 BC when the Helvetians wanted to leave the
area of the present Switzerland. When they returned they obviously did not use this place anymore.
Recently a part of the earth rampart was
reconstructed. It is a question of a rampart section south of the gate.
In the rampart were admitted vertical oak stakes. Thinner horizontal stakes were also added. The rampart was faced with stones.
