This town is presumably a question of a roman foundation. It was built obvious in the 1st century BC and became soon an important place.
Under Claudius Drusus Germanicus Caesar (Nero, AD 54 - 68) the town was raised to a municipium. In the 5th century AD the city was destroyed almost completely.
Ibn Maruán let construct in the 9th century an observation tower on the ruins. During the Christian re-conquest the town was left completely and forgotten.
Following remains are visible: a house near the south gate, the south gate, parts of the
town wall.
Additional are some rooms of the thermal springs and the podium of the forum temple to see. Furthermore some wall
traces of the forum wall were made visible.
It is however impressing that nearly the whole
town surface is not covered. Only the main road crosses the town approximately in the middle.
The walls of the forum suggest that still many wall traces are
underneath the ground.
