Ditch in the Callendar Park

Back to main survey Great Britain

In the area of Falkirk the impressively rest of the Antonine Wall is to be seen: The ditch which was dug before the wall.

Tamfourhill at CamelonIn Tamfourhill at Camelon a street traverses the ditch. The ditch is eastern of that very deeply and more than a hundred meters long preserved. To the west from that it is a little less deep. From here it is however to follow about some a hundred meters west direction (Rough Castle) until it is interrupted by a gravel pit.

In the Callendar Park in Falkrik also a hundred meters long and very deep stretch of the ditch is to be seen.

Polmont WoodFinally the ditch descends in Polmont Wood at Polmont a hill. Here it is not, however, anymore very deep.

Nothing is to make out by all three places anymore from the wall.
