| The Colonia Iulia Equestris was founded 45 BC by Gaius Iulius Caesar. This obviously to settle his cavalry veterans. |

It is a question of the third Colonia on the region of the present Switzerland. This apart from Aventicum and Augusta Raurica.
This was presumably the Colonia with the smallest surface and population in the present Switzerland. But the importance points out, when looking at the amphitheater, which was discovered in 1996.

A city wall is not verified. The Porte Sainte-Marie stands however on the foundations of a triumphal arch or just a town gate. |

These columns appertained to the portico of the main temple which is only presumed. They do not stand at the original place. |
