Saturday, 14.08.1999 - Ardon, Wallis
The excavation in the basement is to be reached through the church St. Jean.
| To be seen is a grave building from the 4th or 5th century. |
|
This was expanded in the Middle Ages to a church. The present church was again constructed at the end of the 19th century.
| Just before the church were 1970 parts of a roman villa - which probably the grave building belonged to - dug up because of the building of an underpass and presumably destroyed. |
|
Opposite the church is the community centre. Two consecration inscriptions are in its conservatory. One to Jupiter one to Mercury. These appertained presumably to the villa.
