The shape of a rut in an inclined terrain. An inclined wheel causes abrasion on the valley-side of the rut and on its bottom. The shape shown in A would result if abrasion is the cause for the rut. This shape has never been observed. B is an actual shape found in Malta (it is the rut on the right side of figure 2). The "hill-sided" wall of the rut is "overhanging". Because of the gravity, the wheel was not in contact with the hill-sided wall and could not abrade it. This shape is hand made..
