| Die Zeit der Völkerwanderung |
(German: Title means "The time of the movements of peoples")
This book illustrates the movements of peoples since the 4th century BC to the 6th century AD which had consequences to the roman empire.
There are not only described movements in the roman empire also movements at its edges that had consequences for Rome.
The movements are described shortly. But it is a good survey of the different peoples: Celts, Germans and Huns. The difficulty is shown, that a denotation as a people group (Goths, Franconians, Vandals ...) is helpful for a orientation, however not exact applies. It was a question always of alliances of different peoples.
Because the book describes only one topic, it is to be recommended. However prior knowledge and also geographic aids are helpful.
