The P0nt du Gard is an aqueduct.
It appertained to a water pipe which supplied Nemausus (Nîmes) about the distance of approx. 50 km.
The building was constructed in the 3rd quarter of the 1st century BC to cross the valley of the Gardon.
It is 49 m tall. The third arcade storey is 275 m long and carries the channel which is 1.85 m high and 1.20 m broad.
The gradient between beginning and end of the water pipe is 17 m.
