The theater of Augusta Emerita - Merida - was constructed - in accordance with construction inscription - in the year 16 BC.
The stage comes from the time of Hadrian and was reconstructed in the modern time.
Place was offered for 6'000 spectators.
The colony Augusta Emerita was set up under Augustus for his veterans.
